Frequently Asked Questions…
What is Process Service?
What is process service? As defined by wikipedia, “Service of process is the procedure by which a party to a lawsuit gives an appropriate notice of initial legal action to another party (such as a defendant), court, or administrative body in an effort to exercise jurisdiction over that person so as to enable that person to respond to the proceeding before the court, body, or other tribunal.”
Process service is simply the delivery of legal documents in a court case. It can be for a divorce, a small claims case, a subpoena to testify (or produce records), or other legal actions.

Process Service, Better Play by the Rules
The rules of process service in each state are specific to that state. If the legal documents originate in another state, the papers must be served by that state’s specific rules of process service, even if the document is served in a different state. It sounds simple enough, but there are specific guidelines and deadlines depending upon the type of document. Process Service can be a very involved matter.
